Exploring Printmaking is a group exhibition displaying prints made by students last year on the Relief Printmaking course taught by artist and printmaker Beth Jenkins bethjenkins.co.uk at the New Brewery Arts in Cirencester.
Most of the prints on display are relief prints. Relief
printmaking is when you carve into a printing block that you then use to press
onto paper and make a print. The lines or shapes you carve into the printing
block will not have ink on them, so will not show up on the paper.
At the end of the course in March, we all exchanged some
of our prints made on the course and the ones I received are on display here.
Many of the prints are artist’s proofs, i.e. test prints and might not be as
perfect as the final prints are, but show different styles and methods of
printmaking.
Since finishing the course, we have kept in touch and
continue printmaking as we all love it so much.
We hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of our work!
