Prints!

The prints in the new exhibition by Kathryn Gray (the gallery curator) in the Telephone Gallery are all made using a Gelli Arts Gel Plate, a type of gel plate. Acrylic paint is spread onto the plate using an ink roller, then a variety of stencils and other textured objects are placed on the plate to add or remove the paint. Then paper or fabric is placed on top of the plate, smoothed down and then lifted off and the paint transfers to the paper or fabric. It’s a really fun process.

She experimented with a variety of techniques and has produced a series of layered prints. There are 117 in total and each one is different. She printed them on imitation greaseproof paper using acrylic paint and them stuck them onto muslin. She had a lot of fun making them and enjoys teaching the techniques.
