The iconic old red
telephone kiosk next to the village shop
in the heart of the Cotswold village of Ashton Keynes in North Wiltshire was
converted into a mini art gallery eighteen months ago. Since it opened in March
2022, the Telephone Gallery has hosted twenty-two exhibitions. A to Z of
Ashton Keynes is the latest exhibition and the exhibition celebrates Ashton
Keynes and its vibrant community with twenty-six 15cm square artworks.
Earlier
in the year, residents of Ashton Keynes were invited to submit a square image
in some way linked to the village and to a letter of the alphabet. The result
is a fun mixed media exhibition featuring alpacas, rubber ducks, gnomes, coffee
and cake, a winter starling murmuration, the forthcoming Christmas Tree
Festival, the White Hart Inn, and much more. Thirteen residents took up the
challenge and there is a fabulous range of work on display, including collage,
linocut, fabric art, drawings, models, pastels, mosaic, and acrylic painting.
The exhibition runs until October 1st.
