A group of local women met up in the function room of the White Hart in Ashton Keynes in late October to create a flock of collaged birds, drawing inspiration from British artist Mark Hearld. Hearld is known for his vivid, textured depictions of birds using mixed media and collage techniques. Under the guidance of community artist Kathryn Gray, the group participants used a variety of mark making techniques to create different pieces of paper to construct their artwork with and then created their own birds, combining textures and colours to great effect.

Although each piece is unique, the finished works displayed
together as a unified flock highlights both individual creativity and
collective effort. This fun evening project fostered creativity and community,
and also an appreciation for the collage style popularised by Mark Hearld.
