FAQs

How do I/we book the Telephone Gallery?
Email thetelephonegallery@gmail.com or use the Contact Form to arrange a time to discuss your plans and for a copy of the artist T&Cs.

Does the gallery door have a lock?
Yes, it has a lock fitted by Armadillo Locksmiths and funded by The Hills Group so your art/craft will be safe.

I'd like people to stand inside the Telephone Gallery to look at my work. Is that possible?
Sorry, but that's not possible. There's great visibility on three sides so people can see your work easily.

Do I have to live in Ashton Keynes to exhibit my work?
No.  All exhibitions are welcome, providing they are family friendly. However, Ashton Keynes Parish Council says that priority for bookings must be given to residents of Ashton Keynes.

How long do exhibitions last?
We plan to hold new exhibitions every four weeks or so, but if you'd like to make a special display, for example, for Hallowe'en, it would be just for a week or so.

How can work be displayed?
Work can be attached onto a wooden board that has been painted white that is attached to the back wall. Work can also be hung on the three sides with windows too. There's a small low white table that can be borrowed to display work. A three tier shelving unit can also be borrowed.

The backboard measures approx. 185cm x 72cm.

Each large rectangular window measures 37cm x 17.5cm

Is there a charge to exhibit?
No.

Can we use the space to advertise a forthcoming local event?
Yes. It's there to be used by the community so do get in touch if there's space on the calendar.

How is the gallery promoted?
Forthcoming exhibitions are advertised on the website, in the local newsletter, and on social media. If you're hiring the space, we'd expect you to promote your exhibition among your friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances.

Is there anywhere to hold a private view party locally?
Yes, the White Hart Inn is just across the road so you can go there for a drink or hire the Function Room there. Or use Ashton Keynes Village Hall. There's plenty of parking at the Village Hall.

Can I volunteer to help with the Telephone Gallery?
Yes, please! It's a volunteer led gallery so all offers of help are welcomed.

How much is the curator of the Telephone Gallery paid?
I don't get paid to curate the Telephone Gallery. Ashton Keynes Parish Council has funded start-up costs and pays for cleaning materials. A yearly budget of £50 has now been allocated to the project, but photocopying or printing at home isn't reimbursed. I have funded extra costs by selling books and by selling a special Telephone Gallery mug.

Anything else I need to know?
In the colder months, condensation can form inside the gallery and rain gets in so it's advisable to display work that won't be damaged. Good quality photocopies and maybe laminating them could be a way around this.

Help can be given to display work and we have different sized frames that can be used to display work. Work can be laminated. We have battery operated fairy lights with a timer that can be borrowed and bulldog clips and hooks too.  Batteries are not supplied with the fairy lights and if you borrow the fairy lights, please return them untangled and ready for the next user.
