A to Z of Ashton Keynes

There is a slot free in September and I thought it would be a fun idea to put on a collaborative village exhibition called A to Z of Ashton Keynes. The idea is to paint, draw, print, mosaic, collage, sew, embroider, or felt an image measuring 15cm (6”) square  -not including any borders - that is somehow related to the village and linked to a letter of the alphabet. Here are some of the prompts I have come up with:

Alpacas

National Trail Thames Path

Singing Blokes

 Old Chancel

Church Walk

Pollinators

Duck race

Pub Quiz

Excellent W.I refreshments

Raffle

Flowers

Starling murmuration

Telephone Gallery

Trees

Holy Cross Church

Umpteen dogs

White Hart Inn

Village shop, Village Hall

Jackdaws

Window Wanderland

The gnomes in Kent End

Xmas Tree Festival

Lakes

Youth football

Mini on High Road

Parking on Zigzag lines at the school

These are some suggested prompts, but do suggest your own. To take part, email thetelephonegallery@gmail.com or drop a note to 16 Gosditch with your contact details to bag your letter of the alphabet, telling me what you’re planning on doing, e.g. “I’d like to have S and I’m going to paint a picture of the school”. I will confirm that, for example, that S is still available. Before you start your image, you must check with me so that we can get a full A to Z. The ones in red with a line through have been taken and are what is planned for that letter so look at what's available and do something different.

Interpret the prompts however you want, e.g. Village shop could be a collage of labels; the shop logo, Q for pub Quiz could be a puzzled face emoji.

Work can be displayed with your name on or anonymously. The deadline is the end of August so there’s plenty of time to make your artwork. All work submitted needs to be suitable for a family audience and no photographs, please.

Looking forward to seeing your creations!
